What is Yerba Mate?
Yerba mate comes from a holly tree native to the South American Atlantic rainforest. Yerba mate leaves are naturally caffeinated, with the strength of coffee, the health benefits of tea, and the euphoria of chocolate.
Drinking yerba mate is a common social practice in Argentina, Southern Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
We focus on using regenerative farming and business practices when planting, harvesting, and selling our yerba mate.
What is Rooibos Tea?
Rooibos is unique because it is indigenous to South Africa’s mountainous region of Cederberg (just north of Cape Town), where it still thrives today. The rooibos plant, Aspalathus linearis, is a member of the legume family of plants that flourish in dry, mountainous regions with periods of significant rainfall.
Like many herbal infusions or herbal teas, rooibos is steeped in hot water to make a herbal tea beverage.
A handful of the words that can describe the flavor spectrum of sipping a rooibos tea are , sweet, woody, grassy, vanilla, floral, smoky honey, herbal and caramel.
What are Cacao Nibs?
The word is derived from Theobroma Cacao, which is the taxonomic classification for the cacao tree. Cacao can be used to describe the pods, seeds and trees or the product once the bean has been fermented, dried and roasted.
The cacao trees grow brightly colored pods that when broken open contain beans covered in a milky white substance. Once these beans are recovered and cleaned, they are fermented, dried and eventually roasted. After they are roasted, they can be broken up into pieces, which are called nibs.
Theorbromine is the alkaloid compound in cacao responsible for its stimulating effects. Much like caffeine, it is a heart stimulant. In contract to caffeine, cacao nibs give a longer, softer energy from theobromine without that peak and sudden dip that many people experience with caffeinated beverages like coffee.
