Aztec Fire Chai blends the ideas of xocōlātl and masala chai together to bring you a bonanza of flavor. A slightly sweet and chocolaty infusion with notes of cardamom and cinnamon and a slightly spicy finish.
The first chocolate drink is believed to have been created by the Maya around 2,500–3,000 years ago, and a cocoa drink was an essential part of Aztec culture by 1400 AD, by which they referred to as xocōlātl.
According to lore, masala chai’s history began thousands of years ago in an ancient royal court. Some legends say it was created 9,000 years ago, while others claim it was 5,000 years ago. There are stories that the court was located in what is now India, while others attribute masala chai to Thai origins. Regardless, it is said that a king created it as a cleansing, vivifying Ayurvedic beverage.
We hope you enjoy this chai cultural fusion as much as we do!
